Department Icon, Douglas Reeves to Retire After Three Decades of Service

Dr. Doug ReevesDr. Douglas Reeves, Associate Dean and Professor of Computer Science and Electrical and Computer Engineering, has announced his retirement at the end of the year.. Since joining the department in 1987, Reeves solidified his position as a department icon, where he is known not only for his brilliant research in the areas of architecture and operating systems, cybersecurity, and networking, but for his approachability as a professor and his leadership within the department during a period of tremendous growth and change. Department Honors Two Alumni ‘Rising Stars’

The NC State Department of Computer Science proudly announces the selection of Angie Jones and Ravi MuthuKrishnan as ‘Rising Stars’ for 2020. The CSC Alumni ‘Rising Star’ Award (previously known as the CSC Outstanding Young Alumni Award) was established in 2017, as part of the department’s 50th Year Celebrations, to celebrate and recognize the exemplary contributions our outstanding graduates have made to their profession, their community, and the world at large. In particular, the ‘Rising Star’ Award recognizes alumni within 10 years of graduation, an honor reserved to recognize alumni for early stage career accomplishments. Read More »

Enck’s Paper Wins 2020 SIGOPS Hall of Fame Award

Congratulations to Dr. William Enck, associate professor in the NC State Computer Science Department, along with fellow researchers Peter Gilbert (Oasis Labs), Byung-Gon Chun (Seoul National University), Landon P. Cox (Microsoft Research), Jaeyeon Jung (Samsung), Patrick McDaniel (The Pennsylvania State University), and Anmol N. Sheth (A9), for winning the 2020 ACM Special Interest Group in Operating Systems (SIGOPS) Hall of Fame Award. The SIGOPS Hall of Fame Award was instituted in 2005 to recognize the most influential Operating Systems papers that were published at least ten years in the past. Read More »

Singh Elected AAAS Fellow

Dr. Munindar SinghCongratulations to Dr. Munindar Singh, Alumni Distinguished Graduate Professor of Computer Science at NC State, on being elected a Fellow of the American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS). Election as an AAAS Fellow is an honor bestowed upon AAAS members by their peers. Singh was elected for his distinguished contributions to the field of computer science, particularly to foundations of multiagent systems and their applications in service-oriented computing, sociotechnical systems, and governance. Select Departmental Gifts & Support

DBGT has donated $10,000 to the department in support of the ePartners Program and Sr Design Center.

Area 1 Security has donated $2,500 to the department in support of the ePartners Program.

Dr. Donald Bitzer and his wife, Maryann, have donated $8,000 to support the Dr. Robert E. Funderlic Scholarship Endowment, the Dr. Alan Tharp Scholarship Endowment, the Bitzer Creativity Award Endowment, and the Bitzer Undergraduate Research Endowment.

Alum, Dr. Andy Smith, has donated $1,500 to the department in support of the Dr. Robert E. Funderlic Scholarship Endowment.

Alum, Jesse Fearrington and his wife, Barbara, have donated $1,500 to the Computer Science Enhancement Endowment.


CSC Wolf Bytes

Congratulations to alum, Darrell Hubbard (MS CSC ’88), founder and CEO of Yubi, as the company was recently recognized by the TADS Awards as the winner of the Best Innovation of the Year Award for their income-producing Stablecoin beating out hundreds of competitors worldwide. The TADS Awards, based out of Hong Kong, are the world’s first annual International awards for tokenized assets & digitized securities.

If you are a CSC student or recent graduate (within 12 months post-graduation) and would like to receive email notifications when new jobs are posted on ePack matching your profile, you can set up your own customized job search agent to receive just the postings you desire (intern vs. full time, etc). For a short video tutorial on how to create your own personalized job agent, click here.

The Alumni Association has partnered with the University Career Development Center to make ePACK available to NC State alumni. If you are a current Alumni Association member, update your online profile by visiting the Wolfpack Connect (alumni directory) and click on the ‘Update My Info’ tab on the upper right side of the page. Select the ‘Career Connections’ tab and then choose ‘yes’ beside the question, ‘Do you want access to ePACK?’

To access ePACK you must be a member of the Alumni Association and you must be an alumnus/alumnae of NC State. If you are not a member of the Alumni Association, you can join online. Once you have received an email confirming your membership, you will be able to register for access to ePACK.
