"Virtualization and High Availability Features in Oracle Solaris"

Abstract:

The talk will cover recent innovations in OS technology available in Oracle Solaris. Unique features such as Oracle Solaris ZFS, and Virtualization technologies such as Zones and VirtualBox allow for unparalleled opportunities for Virtualization and HA deployments. The talk will provide an overview of these technologies.

Short Bio:

Sowmini Varadhan is a Principal Software Engineer in the Solaris Kernel Networking group at Sun/Oracle for over 9 years. She has worked on various aspects of the kernel, including Routing protocols, kernel TCP/IP performance and configuration. Prior to this, Sowmini has worked in various Networking positions including the Kernel/Networking group developer in the Tru64 Networking group at DEC/COMPAQ, and in the Systems and Communications group at Parametric Technology Corporation. Sowmini has a B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology, Madras and a PhD from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville.
