"RTP's Breakable Experimental Network (BEN) as a GENI island"

Tuesday April 21, 2009 02:00 PM
Location: 3211, EB 2 NCSU Centennial Campus
(Visitor parking instructions)

Abstract: The first part of the talk will describe the BEN optical testbed (https://ben.renci.org) located in RTP - its capabilities, status and operations model. The second part of the talk will describe how BEN is being used in a joint RENCI-Duke project to demonstrate a GENI (Global Environment for Network Innovation, http://www.geni.net) Control Framework on BEN equipment. Specifically, we will discuss the GENI effort, funded by NSF, describe the ORCA control framework, its prototype and its adaptation to the network environment, how it is being extended to provide a flexible scheduling framework for BEN resources and the future directions in which the ORCA-BEN team intends to develop the prototype.
