"Deeply Hardening Software with Cryptography"

Abstract: This talk will describe the evolving software exploit landscape, some of the mitigations that have been or are being developed, and active areas of research. This will include an overview of Cryptographic Capability Computing (C3), which was introduced in a MICRO 2021 paper and is now the focus for a project led by Intel Labs as part of the DARPA HARDEN program.
Short Bio: Michael LeMay is a Senior Staff Research Scientist in Intel Labs Security and Privacy Research who focuses on memory safety with a special emphasis on capability-based architectures. He is the Principal Investigator for Intel's Cryptographic Capability Computing (C3) project in the DARPA HARDEN program. Michael also served as Intel's final lead liaison to the SRC JUMP CONIX research center. LeMay received his Ph.D. in Computer Science from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign in 2011.
