Chandrika Satyavolu is an Associate Teaching Professor in the Department of Computer Science at NC State University. Her teaching focuses on core undergraduate courses and student-centered curriculum design, with particular interest in active learning and educational equity.
Prior to joining NC State, Satyavolu served as an Associate Teaching Professor in the Department of Computer Science and Engineering at the University of Notre Dame. She has also held faculty positions at California State University, Monterey Bay and Oklahoma City University. Her professional experience includes software engineering roles at Danger Inc. (later acquired by Microsoft), Wind River Systems, and Institutional Shareholder Services in Norman, Oklahoma.
Satyavolu earned her Ph.D. in computer science with a focus on wireless and mobile networks. In support of her teaching practice, she completed the University of California, Berkeley’s STEM Faculty Learning Program, which emphasizes active learning strategies to foster student engagement. She also participated in Google’s training workshop for the Computer Science Summer Institute (CSSI), an outreach program supporting high school students’ transition into college-level computer science.
Her academic interests include active learning techniques, inclusive pedagogy, and summer intervention programs aimed at improving college readiness and retention in computing disciplines.
