Nine Faculty Receive 2009 IBM Faculty Awards

The NC State Department of Computer Science is very proud to announce that nine members of its faculty have been selected to receive 2009 IBM Faculty Awards totaling $267,000.

Winners of these highly competitive and selective awards include:

Dr. Kemafor Anyanwu - assistant professor of computer science, with an award of $40,000
Dr. Rada Chirkova – associate professor of computer science, with an award of $30,000
Dr. Patrick Dreher – adjunct professor of computer science, with an award of $23,000
Dr. Helen Gu - assistant professor of computer science, with an award of $29,000
Dr. Christopher Healey - associate professor of computer science, with an award of $30,000
Dr. Xiaosong Ma - associate professor of computer science, with an award of $30,000
Dr. Mladen Vouk - professor of computer science and department head, with an award of $35,000
Dr. Laurie Williams - associate professor of computer science, with an award of $30,000
Dr. Tao Xie - assistant professor of computer science, with an award of $20,000

IBM Faculty Awards recognize outstanding faculty achievement and are renewable annually. But in keeping with the competitive spirit of the program, renewal nominations must be submitted and supported by an IBM technical sponsor and evaluated in the same process and criteria as the first award.
