Congratulations to the Senior Design Team: Nathan Green, Jeremy Maness, Buck Webb and J.R. Wilson and their mentors, Bob Fornaro and Margaret Heil for placing third in the Fourth Annual IEEE Computer Society International Design Competition (CSIDC).

The purpose of the competition is to advance excellence in education by having student teams design and implement computer-based solutions to real-world problems. The theme of this year's CSIDC was Added Value: Turning Computers Into Systems. As mentioned earlier, the NC State was the only finalist from the US.

The University has filed for a patent for the student's invention of "Diet Download," a system which uses a bar code scanner coupled with a PDA to assist a person follow a diet plan as he or she does grocery shopping.
