WiCS to Host CRA-W Distinguished Lecturers and Panel

The Women in Computer Science (WiCS) student organization is pleased to host two CRA Committee on the Status of Women in Computing Research (CRA-W) sponsored Distinguished Lecturers and a Panel Discussion on Thursday, April 12 and Friday, April 13.

Distinguished lecturers are Dr. Monica Lam from the Department of Computer Science at Stanford University and Dr. Xiaohui (Helen) Gu from IBM’s T. J. Watson Research Center. 

Dr. Lam’s talk entitled “Consumerizing PCs: From Research to Product”, will be held from 11:00 am to noon on April 12th in Engineering Building II, Room 3211. 

Dr. Gu’s talk entitled “System Support for Large-Scale On-Line Data Analysis” from 10:00 to 11:00 am on April 13th in Engineering Building II, Room 3211.

A panel to discuss graduate school and women’s issues will be held on the evening of April 12th.  The panel will start at 6:30 pm and will be held in Engineering Building II, Room 3211.  The panel will be preceded by an hors d' oeuvres reception at 5:30 in Engineering Building II, Room 3211.  Our panelists include: Dr. Monica Lam, Dr. Xiaohui Gu, Ms. Kathy Markham (Kindred Healthcare), Dr. Lina Battestilli (MCNC), and Xenia Mountrouidou (NCSU).  Everyone is welcome to attend!
