Desai, Chopra & Singh win IEEE SCC Best Student Paper Award

Congratulations to CSC graduate students Nirmit Desai and Amit Chopra, as well as their faculty mentor, Dr. Munindar Singh for having their paper titled, “Business Process Adaptations via Protocols” selected as the IEEE SCC 2006 Best Student Paper.

The paper discusses and presents models of process adaptability of business protocols, through a real business scenario of auto-insurance claim processiong.  The paper demonstrates how a wide range of adaptations can be handled naturally and systematically via protocol composition.

Desai, Chopra and Singh have done previous research on this topic, including the paper “Protocols for Processes: Programming in the Large for Open Systems” in which they address some of the approaches they are developing for modeling and enacting business processes based on protocols.

The 2006 IEEE International Conference on Services Computing (SCC 2006) was held September 16-22 in Chicago.
