Mueller Receives Support for MAV Aerodynamics Research
Dr. Frank Mueller, professor of computer science at NC State University, has been awarded $666,666 by Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University (US Air Force) to support his research proposal titled “Co-Design of Hardware/Software for Predicting MAV Aerodynamics.”
This award is part of a larger $1,999,995 grant that runs from September 1, 2012 to October 31, 2017. Mueller is co-PI on this project with Dr. Jack Edwards, a professor in the NC State Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering. The lead PI is Dr. Hong Luo, associate professor in the NC State Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering.
Abstract – This proposal provides subcontractor support to Virginia Tech for a proposal submitted under the Air Force's Basic Research Initiative. The proposal will focus on development of reconfigurable mapping strategies for porting multi-block structured and unstructured-mesh CFD codes to computing clusters containing CPU/GPU processing units.
