Vouk Reappointed Head of Computer Science Department

Dr. Louis A. Martin-Vega, Dean of the College of Engineering at NC State, recently announced that professor Dr. Mladen A. Vouk, Head of the Department of Computer Science, and Associate Vice Provost for Information Technology at NC State, has been reappointed for a second five-year term as Head of the Department.

“Mladen is an outstanding colleague who has provided leadership for our College and University in many crucial areas and who enjoys the utmost respect of his fellow department heads, the administrative team in the College and the University’s upper administration,” said Martin-Vega.
 
Vouk received his PhD from King’s College, University of London, UK. He has extensive experience in both commercial software production and academic computing, and is the author/co-author of over 250 publications. He has taught courses and tutorials in scientific workflow management, software engineering, software testing, software reliability and fault-tolerance, software process and risk management, networking, data structures, operating systems, numerical software, and programming languages.
 
His research interests include software engineering, scientific computing, information technology (IT) assisted education, and cloud computing. One of his inter-disciplinary research interests is coding theory and its use in both communications and biology. He is a member of the IFIP Working Group 2.5 on Numerical Software, and a recipient of the IFIP Silver Core award. He is an IEEE Fellow, and a member of several IEEE societies, ASQ, ACM, and Sigma Xi.
