Career workshop for women computer science students, Feb. 25

A special program on resumes, interview skills and internships for WISE and Women in Computer Science members has been scheduled for Wednesday, Feb. 25, 7:30 p.m.

The event is being hosted by the Women in Science and Engineering (WISE) living-learning center. Women in Computer Science (WICS) student members and prospective members are welcome to attend. Carol Schroeder, director of NC State’s Career Services office, will be the presenter.

Schroeder says her presentation would be especially helpful for sophomores. “This is the point at which they want to start thinking about building their resumes,” she says. “That means they should be getting into leadership positions with student organizations and start applying for internships.”

She also will provide information about the career planning assistance available from the university’s Career Services office. Two career counselors are available for College of Engineering students: Walter Jones is an associate director of career services, working with students in computer science and computer, electrical and nuclear engineering; Beverly Marchi is an assistant director working aerospace, biological, biomedical, civil, construction, environmental, materials and mechanical engineering.

For details, contact Rachel Collins, WISE at (919) 513-7608 or by email at rachel_collins@ncsu.edu.
