Joe Bastante, VP of Enterprise Architecture & Strategy

Joe is a senior leader who has specialized in driving business and IT transformation through the disciplines of Enterprise Architecture, Business Intelligence & Data Warehousing, Business Process Management, Business Strategy, and Solution Design and Delivery.

Joe currently serves as Vice President of Enterprise Architecture and Technical Strategy at Blue Cross Blue Shield of North Carolina (BCBSNC). Joe is responsible for all architecture functions as well as the overarching technical strategy, integration strategy & architecture, and technology innovation.

Joe joined BCBSNC from Quintiles where he last held the position of Head of Strategy & Enterprise Architecture. Joe was responsible for IT Strategy, Strategic Planning, and all aspects of Enterprise Architecture. In 2012 he has also achieved Lean Six Sigma Black Belt Certification through the American Society for Quality (ASQ). Joe started in Quintiles as Vice President, Strategic BPM. It is within the innovative space that Joe applied leadership and process-based methods toward improved drug development models.

Prior to Quintiles, Joe held the position of IT Director, Enterprise Architecture and IT Director, Business Intelligence at Johnson & Johnson. Joe was responsible for architecture oversight and guidance within the Medical Devices sector. He was also responsible for business intelligence delivery, data warehousing solutions, data architecture and analysis, and one of the largest business intelligence environments in the corporation.

A 25-year veteran, Joe’s career is marked with the successful delivery of solutions across a vast array of organizations and technologies both as a consultant and a full-time employee.

Joe holds a Masters degree in Computer Science and has been recognized as an IT architecture expert by the many Fortune 500 companies he’s served as a consultant.
