Recognized Innovator & Expert in the Networking Industry


Photo of Matthew SquireDr. Matthew Squire is the Chief Technology Officer for Hatteras Networks, a North Carolina telecommunications company focused on enabling carriers to deliver next generation Ethernet services for enterprise customers. 

Dr. Squire is a member of the Metro Ethernet Forum Board of Directors, helping guide the MEF to its preeminent position as a telecommuncations standards body.  Additionally, Matt has led standards development in a wide variety of roles, including serving on the Board of Directors for the Ethernet in the First Mile Alliance (EFMA), chairing the OAM sub-committee of IEEE 802.3, chairing the LAN Emulation (LANE) and Multi-Protocol over ATM (MPOA) committees of the ATM Forum, and writing or editing numerous networking standards. 

Matt is a recognized expert in the networking industry, holding leadership positions at IBM, Bay Networks, Nortel Networks, and Extreme Networks before his current CTO role with Hatteras.  In those roles, Matt has proven to be a technical innovator, with more than 20 patents in the making. 

Dr. Squire received a Ph.D. from NC State University in Computer Science, and a BA from Swarthmore College in Mathematics.
