Abstract: This talk showcases an approach to managing software variability in the automotive industry, highlighting the journey at Marquardt, a German company leader in creative mechatronics. Dr. Gabriela Karoline Michelon will share her insights into Software Product Line Engineering (SPLE), blending theoretical knowledge with practical examples, including the open-source SPL Core project. The presentation will explore SPLE's potential to create modular, scalable, and highly reusable software architectures. It will also cover strategies for addressing automotive challenges and ensuring system quality through adherence to stringent standards like A.SPICE.
Short Bio: Dr. Michelon is currently a Software Product Line Engineer and Project Manager for AI-driven Product Development at Marquardt in Frankfurt am Main, Germany. She received her Ph.D. in Computer Science from Johannes Kepler University Linz, Austria. Her Ph.D. research focused on investigating the challenges of software evolution across both space and time dimensions and proposing solutions to address such challenges. Dr. Michelon research interests span software variability, software evolution, software reuse, software product lines, version control management, and artificial intelligence.
