Fornaro Honored with Outstanding Teaching Awards

Photo of FornaroCongratulations to Dr. Robert Fornaro, professor of computer science and director of the Senior Design Center, for receiving two prestigious awards this year in recognition of his outstanding teaching capabilities; Fornaro has been named by the NC State University as an Outstanding Teacher for 2007-08, and he has been chosen as the recipient of an Alumni Outstanding Teacher Award.

Fornaro’s selection as an Outstanding Teacher by the University began with his selection as an Outstanding Teacher by the College of Engineering.  His selection is based on his recognition by students, alumni and colleagues as an excellent teacher.  He becomes the department's ninth member of the NC State Academy of Outstanding Teachers.

He is just one of four to be chosen by the Senior Class Board of Trustees for the Alumni Outstanding Teacher Award.  This honor, which also carries a $1,000 cash award, recognizes individuals who further the education of students through innovative teaching, enthusiasm and dedication to their students. The award is funded through support from the NC State Alumni Association.

Fornaro, who joined the department in 1969 as one of the very first computer science Ph.Ds on our faculty, will be recognized for both awards during the Spring Commencement Program and at the Honors Baccalaureate and Celebration of Excellence.
