Castillo Selected to Attend Grace Hopper 2007, Richard Tapia Conferences

Claris Castillo, a doctoral student and teaching assistant for the department of computer science, has been selected to attend the 2007 Grace Hopper Celebration (GHC) Of Women in Computing Conference in Orlando Florida on October 17th-20th  2007.

In addition, she has been sponsored for participation in a portion of the 2007 Richard Tapia Celebration of Diversity Conference (Tapia Conference) that will be held in conjunction with GHC on October 14-17th  2007.

At the GHC, Castillo will be presenting a research poster and co-organizing a panel for Latinas in Computing, a community of Latinas established last year at GHC 2006.

At the Tapia Conference, Castillo will participate in the Tuesday sessions and special bridge day activities which include a keynote talk given in conjunction with the Tapia Conference, a technical, back-stage tour of Disney attractions at the Magic Kingdom and Epcot and a Disney Institute Team Building Exercise at Epcot.

Castillo is co-advised in her studies by Drs. George Rouskas and Khaled Harfoush.
