Labcorp Speaker Series Proudly Presents Google Cloud Leader Slawomir Chylek

Please join us on March 29th at 6:30 p.m. in room 1231 in Engineering Building 2 for the final lecture in the Spring Labcorp “Leadership in Technology” Speakers Series

 

Our special guest speaker will be Slawomir Chylek, software engineer and Google Cloud Leader at Google.  The topic of Chylek’s talk is “Google Cloud Networking Takeoff in RDU.”

 

Chylek has a PhD in Computer Science in the reliability field, and he is a developer, researcher, mentor and speaker at academic conferences. He has over 15 years of experience that varies from programming mobile phones and lottery systems to power plants. In 2016 he joined Google where he worked on the Google server infrastructure including Borg, Google Compute Engine and Google Kubernetes Engine. In 2021, he shifted his focus to Google Networking to take on new challenges.

 

AbstractTransition to cloud computing is the most democratizing change in the industry this generation.  The Raleigh-Durham (RDU) area is going to play a significant role in this transformation as it has incredible growth potential. The talk outlines how Google is investing in the RDU area, what Google Cloud is and why Networking plays such a significant role. Special focus is given to opportunities and challenges that are on the path of this ambitious transformation.
