Mueller Receives Support for Operating System Research

Dr. Frank Mueller, professor of computer science at NC State University, has been awarded $225,000 by Securaboration (via the US Air Force Research Laboratory) to support his research proposal entitled “Operating System Mechanisms for Many-Core Systems – Phase II (PICASO II) Pico-kernel Adaptive and Scalable Operating Systems, Phase II.”
 
The award will run from June 1, 2013 to May 31, 2015. 
 
Abstract – The objective of this work is to design and evaluate novel system and program abstractions for combined performance and scalability paving the path into a future of operating systems supporting a massive number of cores on a single chip.
