Jiang Receives US Air Force Funding to Study Malware Detection in Android Phones

Dr. Xuxian Jiang, associate professor of computer science at NC State University, has been awarded $125,000 by US Air Force – Research Laboratory (AFRL) to support his proposal titled “Comprehension-Driven Program Analysis (CPA) for Malware Detection in Android Phones.” 
 
The award will run from February 3, 2012 through August 2, 2013.
 
Abstract - Our goal is to develop new automated program analyses capable of proving that the application programs have security properties of interest to the Department of Defense (DoD) and demonstrate those analyses in the form of tools designed specifically to keep malicious code out of DoD Android-based mobile application marketplaces.
