Dr. Juan Vargas

Dr. Juan E. Vargas is currently the Program Manager, UPCRC in Microsoft's Extreme Computing Group. Prior to that, he served as Google's University Relations Manager. Prior to this he was a Sr. Academic Relations Manager for Microsoft from May 2004 to September 2007.
Dr. Vargas is also a Professor of Computer Science & Engineering at the University of South Carolina, where he taught courses in data mining, Bayesian networks, embedded and distributed systems, data structures & algorithms, programming languages, and operating systems. Dr. Vargas research interests
include data mining, embedded systems, sensor networks, distributed systems and biomedical engineering. His research is published in more than 60 articles, several book chapters, and many conferences.
Dr. Vargas has a PhD from Vanderbilt University, MS from CINVESTAV-IPN, and a BSEE from the University of Texas at El Paso.
