Part 2 in a series, the presentation will cover an industry perspective of what makes video games sell - quality, marketing, PR, etc. It will present player behavior data to define a new metric for measuring game value from the consumer's perspective. The presentation will discuss a new framework for building games to maximize this value to consumers. If time allows, the presentation will highlight keys areas of innovation that have been strongly rewarded by the consumer dollars, but ignored in gaming press.
Lowell Vaughen is the Director of Player Analysis for Epic Games, but his first job in the video games industry was with Cendant Software in 1997 analyzing software retail sales data. Later Lowell transitioned to other responsibilities such as category management, brand marketing, and then to consumer value research and development support. Prior to joining Epic Games in 2013, Lowell was the Executive Director of Consumer Value Research for WB Games. Throughout his career, Lowell has enjoyed the opportunity to work with, and learn from, many talented people that have created and published some of the leading gaming franchises in the games industry including Mortal Kombat, Guild Wars, F.E.A.R, Warcraft 3, World of Warcraft, Dark Age of Camelot, Batman Arkham City, and Scribblenauts. Credited with nearly 40 commercial game titles, Lowell is an industry veteran who bring a unique perspective to game design and analysis.
