Game Design Program Ranked in Top 5

The Game Design Program in the NC State Department of Computer Science has been ranked #5 on The Bachelors Degree Center list of the 25 Best Bachelor’s in Game Design Degree Programs for 2019.

The Bachelor’s Degree Center ranked the programs according to the factors they consider most important for judging a bachelor’s degree program.  They used five factors, with data drawn from the Integrated Postsecondary Education Data System (IPEDS), College Scorecard, and Niche student reviews:  average alumni salary, employment rate, graduation rate, reputation, and tuition cost.

NC State’s undergraduate program offers students opportunities unlike many others including courses taught in both the top engineering and design colleges. In addition, students have access to award winning library facilities with various technologies to utilize including game rooms, new hardware, and an impressive collection of games.

Students with a concentration in gaming are not only given a solid foundation of computer science education, but are able to focus on game design and development courses specifically. Computer graphics, artificial intelligence, and human-computer interaction are a few of many courses specifically geared towards students interested in gaming.
