Faculty Position - Lecturer
The Computer Science Department at North Carolina State University (NCSU) invites applications from outstanding educators for one Lecturer position starting August 2018. Candidates must have a minimum of a MS degree (or equivalent) in Computer Science or related field along with appropriate experience, by August 15, 2018. Candidates should provide demonstrated commitment to quality undergraduate teaching.
The Lecturer is responsible for the preparation, maintenance, and delivery of E115 and other course materials as needed, as well as the evaluations of students. Additionally, a Lecturer will be responsible for teaching one or more undergraduate course(s) in the department. Other job duties include Lab coordination, which requires scheduling and managing the use of the laboratory facilities; hiring, training, and supervising student assistants for the lab sections; support of the use of the labs for seminars and demonstrations; and coordination with facilities personnel. The Lecturer may assist in the planning of curriculum and scheduling for assigned courses (e.g., E115, CSC111, CSC113, CSC116, and CSC200) and others as needed. Creation and maintenance of in-class and online materials to support classes is expected. Other duties may include teaching of other computer science courses, faculty service, and other duties identified by the Department Head or the Director of the NC State Computer Science Undergraduate Program. Up to 5 years of experience may be necessary/required depending on the area of course(s) taught. Skills and experience in using university class scheduling and Student Information Systems is preferred.
