Faculty Promotions & Re-appointments Announced

The Department of Computer Science at NC State University is pleased to announce the following faculty promotions and re-appointments, effective August 16, 2008.

Dr. Annie Antón is promoted to Full Professor.  She received her Ph.D. from the Georgia Institute of Technology in 1997.  Her research interests include Software Engineering, Requirements Engineering, Information Privacy and Security, Policy, Software Processes, Web-based Software Applications and Management Information Systems.  She is the founder and director of ThePrivacyPlace.org, a research group of students and faculty at NC State, Georgia Tech, Purdue and the University of Lugano. Antón is a Senior Research Ethics Fellow for the period of 2006-08 and a member of the NC State Cyber Defense Lab. This year, she is chairing the NC State Public Policy Task Force.  She has won a variety of pretegious awards and serves on numerous national boards. For more information on Dr. Antón, click here.

Dr. Rada Chirkova is promoted to Associate Professor with tenure. She received her Ph.D. from Stanford University in 2002.  Her research interests center on Database Performance, and her current research focuses on improving query-processing efficiency by designing and materializing views.  She is a member of the Carolina Database Research Group and a contributing instructor for the Institute for Advanced Analytics.  For more information on Dr. Chirkova, click here.





Dr. Khaled Harfoush has been promoted to Associate Professor with tenure. He received his Ph.D. from Boston University in 2002.  His research interests include Computer Networking, Internet Measurements, Peer-to-peer Systems, and Routing Protocols. Dr. Tao Xie has been re-appointed to a second term as Assistant Professor. He received his Ph.D. from the University of Washington in 2005.  His research interests are in Software Engineering with an emphasis on improving software reliability and dependability.
