Dey Receives 2013 Anita Borg Facebook Scholarship

Congratulations to Piyali Dey, a graduate student in the NC State Computer Science Department, on receiving a 2013 Anita Borg Facebook Scholarship to attend the Grace Hopper Celebration of Women in Computing Conference held October 2-5 in Minneapolis.
 
Dey was selected from a competitive pool of over 900 applicants.  The scholarship covers Grace Hopper Conference registration, hotel room, meals, and travel reimbursement.
 
Several other women from the NC State Computer Science Department were sponsored by the NC State Women in Computer Science (WiCS) to attend the conference, too:  graduate students Savera Tanwir, Brittany Johnson, Maria Riaz and Veronica Catete; and undergraduates Lauren Koepnick, Anya Raspopovic and Denae Ford (picrtured below).
 
The Grace Hopper Celebration of Women in Computing is a series of conferences designed to bring the research and career interests of women in computing to the forefront.  Presenters at the conference are leaders in their respective fields, representing industrial, academic and government communities.  Leading researchers present their current work, while special sessions focus on the role of women in today’s technology fields, including computer science, information technology, research and engineering.
