Leading collaborative teams that deliver quality business intelligence (BI) software has been a focus of Gail Stephens for over 25 years at SAS Institute. Her passion for business intelligence married with world-class SAS analytics drives her focus on helping customers harness the intelligence hidden in data to make better decisions.
Now as the executive champion of business intelligence at SAS, Stephens manages global customer advisory boards, consults with customers on data-driven initiatives and evangelizes how BI can deliver insights that transform organizations.
Her background in developing graphical user interface (GUI) based products as well as managing teams that developed SAS Enterprise Guide™, SAS/ASSIST and SAS/EIS, naturally fostered an interest in business intelligence.
When Stephens was Vice President of Business Intelligence Client Applications, she led the teams developing software for SAS’ industry recognized business intelligence solution. She led development of clients such as Web Report Studio, Information Map Studio, SAS Enterprise Guide, SAS Add-In for Microsoft Office, SAS AppDev Studio, SAS Data Integration Studio, SAS Information Delivery Portal, and SAS OLAP Clients.
A North Carolina native, Stephens holds a bachelor’s degree in computer science from North Carolina State University in Raleigh. Stephens also serves on the Strategic Advisory board for the computer science department at North Carolina State University.
